The Installation Process.
Step 1 - Design & Layout, it remains good practice to plan your workspace.
- Measure the length and width of the solar panels.
- Measure the available roof space to determine how many solar panels can be installed.
- Use the cardboard packaging from the solar panels as templates to lay them out physically on the roof.
- Ensure the layout allows for correct positioning of the solar roof hooks.
- Align roof hooks as closely as possible with the truss rafters.
- Maintain a consistent roof hook spacing not exceeding 1800mm centre to centre.
Step 2 - Installing the Solar Roof Hooks.
- Carefully lift and slide up (or remove) the roof tile closest to the truss rafter.
- Position the adjustable solar roof hook behind the batten, directly on top of the truss rafter.
- If necessary, adjust or reposition the roof hook body using one of the three preset base plate positions.
- Adjust the hook height to ensure adequate clearance under the roof tile.
- Secure the roof hook to the truss rafter using the 3 self-drilling wood screws supplied with the solar mounting kit.
- Reposition the roof tile back to its original place.
- Repeat the above steps for each solar roof hook to be installed.
Step 3 - Connecting the Solar Mounting Rails to the Solar Roof Hooks - (RHFT4 & RHFT5)
- For RHFT4: Attach the Allen bolt and rail nut set to the slotted hole on the solar roof hook body.
- For RHFT5: Attach the Hex bolt and nut set to the slotted hole on the solar roof hook body.
- For RHFT4: Insert the bolt and nut set into the side slot of the solar mounting rail.
- For RHFT5: Insert the bolt and nut set into the bottom slot of the solar mounting rail.
- Adjust the solar mounting rail to the desired position for alignment.
- Finger-tighten the bolt to temporarily hold the rail in place.
- Repeat this process for each solar roof hook.
- Once all rails are positioned, fully tighten all bolts using an Allen key wrench (RHFT4) or appropriate tool (RHFT5).
Step 4 - Attaching the Solar Mid Clamps.
- Lay the solar panels onto the mounting rails.
- Insert the mid clamp rail nuts into the top slots of the mounting rails.
- Position the solar earth clips underneath the mid clamps.
- Ensure the earth clip’s notched slots fit around the Allen bolts of the mid clamps.
- Securely fasten the mid clamps in place.
Step 5 - Attaching the Solar Earth Clips.
- Place the earth clips beneath the mid clamps.
- Align the notched slots on the clips with the Allen bolts of the mid clamps.
- Ensure a snug fit for effective electrical grounding.
Step 6 - Attaching the Solar End Clamps.
- Insert the end clamp rail nut sets into the top slots of the mounting rails.
- Position and fasten securely over the end panels.
- Earth clips are not required for end clamps.
Step 7 - Attaching the Solar Solar Earth Lugs.
- Insert the earth lug rail nut sets into the top or side slots of the mounting rails.
- Use one earth lug per rail length.
- Securely fasten in place.
- This component provides the grounding point for the entire mounting system.
Step 8 - Attaching the Solar Rail Splice Bars.
- Insert the splice bars into the side slots of the mounting rails.
- Align and connect two rail sections.
- This allows for extending the rail system for additional panel placement.
